The City of Snohomish was founded in 1860 by E.C. Ferguson and E.F. Cady. The city was first known as Cadyville and later
changed to Snohomish City in 1871, named after the dominant indian tribe in the area "sdoh-doh-hohbsh" which means sleeping waters.
Once known for its logging industry, the City of Snohomish is now famous for its antique shops, bicycling, hot air balloons, skydiving,
and river walk. Historic downtown features turn-of-the-century
buildings with a great view of the mighty Snohomish River.
